Since 1979, Ava Kamaria has been involved in various aspects of theatrical and makeup application, as well as theatrical costume, prop and visual display. She has contributed to countless productions with makeup consultation to various artists and performers within the DFW Metroplex, via her affiliation with a local theatrical supplier as department manager. Selected to conduct Theatrical Makeup for African Americans Workshop - National Association of Dramatic and Speech Arts. 19 years of fashion work as a model; working with various photographers and as a freelance prop stylist and designer, in 2002 DESIGNING HORIZONS was created. In 2023, Ava utilized her costume design skills, and has designed for professional local theatres. Ava is also a proud member of I.A.T.S.E. TWU Local 128.

Exciting Extracurriculars

Designing Horizons offers a continuing series of lectures provided by various professionals in not only the field of makeup, but also in areas of costume design, business acumen for the beginning artist, just to name a few, while still providing makeup classes for the professional & non-professional student. The educational services provided by Designing Horizons are primarily utilized for established institutions of learning, however, private students will be considered on a case by case basis.

While offering an established core curriculum, it is the goal to also provide individualized attention to each student's personal developmental needs. Artistic development varies in each artist. Respect for this fundamental ideal is foremost in instruction.
